Assistant Secretary of State: imposing duties on US crude imports is still on the table
The top US diplomat in the energy field said that Washington may impose fees on its imports of crude oil if crude producers do not live up to their pledges made at the weekend to reduce production.
"As for the drawings, it's still on the table," US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Frank Fanon said in a call to reporters.
Global oil producers agreed on Sunday to cut crude production by about 20 million barrels per day, an unprecedented figure that includes OPEC + countries like Saudi Arabia and Russia, and cuts from other producers such as the United States.
