Energy Information Administration: US crude inventories fell last week

The US Energy Information Administration said today, Wednesday, that crude oil stocks fell, while gasoline and distillate stocks rose.

Crude oil inventories fell by 6.1 million barrels last week to 433.5 million barrels, compared to analysts' expectations in a Reuters poll for a decline of 2.8 million barrels.

The administration said that crude stocks at the delivery center in Cushing, Oklahoma, fell by 3.1 million barrels last week.

The administration added that refinery consumption of crude rose by 30,000 barrels per day in the past week

Refinery operating rates decreased by 0.2 percentage points in that week

The administration said that gasoline stocks rose by 1.5 million barrels per week to 217.6 million, compared to analysts' expectations in a Reuters poll of a decrease of 0.9 million barrels.

Management data showed that distillate stocks, which include diesel and heating oil, rose by 0.9 million barrels per week to 116.7 million barrels, compared to expectations for a rise of 0.2 million barrels.

Net US imports of crude oil fell last week by 116,000 barrels per day
