German Economy Minister: The economy will grow between 3.4% and 3.7% this year
German Economy Minister Peter Altmaier said Tuesday that Europe's largest economy is expected to grow between 3.4% and 3.7% this year and to regain its pre-pandemic strength by the end of the year.
"Overall, the German economy will regain its pre-pandemic strength by the end of this year, which is cause for optimism," Altmaier told foreign reporters.
"We expect the German economy to grow between 3.4 and 3.7% this year... and we expect it to grow by 4% next year," he added.
Asked if he was concerned that an increase in German consumer prices might persist, Altmaier said he was "watching this development in inflation very closely" but could not yet judge it.
