Job openings in the US fall to lowest level in September
Data from the US Department of Labor released on Tuesday, October 29, revealed that the number of job openings in the United States fell to its lowest level in more than three and a half years during September.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics also revised downward the data for last August, which shows a slight decline in the conditions of the US labor market.
The bureau stated in a report on Tuesday that available job opportunities, a measure of labor demand, fell by 418,000 to 7.443 million jobs at the end of last month, which is its lowest level since January 2021, according to Reuters.
Expectations indicated eight million job openings by the end of September, according to a Reuters poll of economists.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics revised the August data, reducing the number of job openings to 7.861 million job openings by the end of the month instead of 8.040 million at the end of the month according to a previous report.
