The Senate majority leader announces the start of bargaining over the stimulus package
The stubborn US Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Thursday that there were "optimistic signs" that Congress had reached a stimulus package before the end of this year.
During the Senate, the Kentucky Republican said, "Bargaining is close at hand. We know where we agree. We can do it."
What we are waiting for now is: Will the Democrats in the House or the Senate accept McConnell's bargaining? House Speaker and Senate Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer said on Wednesday that they are backing away from massive packages, and are accepting a $ 908 billion package.
McConnell rejects this reduced package of $ 2 trillion, and offers individual packages of $ 500 billion.
On Thursday, McConnell called for a deal similar to what lawmakers revealed. It includes: wage protection, education financing, and vaccine distribution, and these provisions are agreed by Democrats.
