US stocks rise during Wednesday's trading
The performance of US stock indices varied during trading on Wednesday, October 30, on Wall Street, after the release of a number of positive earnings reports for some technology companies, and looking forward to more business results reports for technology companies.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by only 30 points, or 0.07%. While the S&P 500 index fell by about 0.2%, and the Nasdaq Composite Index fell by about 0.3%.
Shares of Alphabet, the parent company of Google, rose by 6%, after announcing its business results on Tuesday, as the company exceeded analysts' expectations for revenue and profits.
Meta and Microsoft will present their business results on Wednesday, while Apple and Amazon will present their business results on Thursday.
This comes in conjunction with the announcement of the third-quarter gross domestic product numbers in the United States, as the US economy recorded a slower-than-expected growth rate of 2.8%, compared to expectations of economists polled by Dow Jones at 3.1%.
Meanwhile, the US non-farm private sector added more jobs than expected in October, adding 233,000 jobs, compared with 159,000 in September. And compared with expectations of 110,000.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 16.8 points, or 0.04%, at the opening of the session to 42,249.81 points.
While the S&P 500 index fell about 0.3 points to 5,832.65 points at the beginning of trading.
