US stocks turn lower in Tuesday trading
US stocks turned lower in Tuesday's trading session on Wall Street, reversing early gains.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 15 points, or 0.03%. The S&P 500 fell 0.5%. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 1.2%.
Shares of chipmaker Nvidia fell after hitting a new record high in early trading after it unveiled new chips for desktop and laptop computers that use the same technology as Blackwell.
Tesla shares fell 3% in premarket trading after Bank of America downgraded the electric vehicle maker due to its high value and risks associated with its strategy.
The mixed performance comes after gains in the indexes during Monday's session, led by gains in semiconductor stocks. One of the catalysts for stocks was a Washington Post report that said President-elect Donald Trump’s tariff plan would be narrower than previously expected. Trump later denied the report in a post on his social media platform Truth Social.
