Wall Street recovers as Dow Jones rises 200 points
US stocks rose in Wall Street trading, Monday, to recover after a difficult week, with technology stocks rebounding and tensions in the Middle East diminishing, at a time when traders are also looking forward to announcing large corporate profits this week.
The Dow Jones closed up more than 200 points, and the S&P 500 snapped a 6-day loss as the technology sector rebounded.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 0.87%.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 340 points, or 0.67%. The Nasdaq Composite Index closed up by about 1.11%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq indexes are heading to end a six-day losing streak.
After a frustrating period, chip and artificial intelligence maker Nvidia regained its glow, and the giant company's stock rose 4%, rebounding from a sell-off of about 14% and its worst week since September 2022.
